Manila, PhilippinesDeveloph kicked off Collab Pitch Day last August 24, Saturday at the Amazon Philippines Office in Taguig City. At the intersection of technology & design, entrepreneurship, activism, and creation for impact – they gathered over 80 diverse participants to explore what it means to tangibly build initiatives for social good powered by technology; and listen to this generation of people making change who need help.

All the organizations had five to seven minutes to pitch their ideas. There were three awards presented during Pitch Day: the Best Pitch Award, the Inclusivity Award, and the Innovation Award.

Likha, Liwanag, an organization led by Ateneo de Manila University alumna Apple Nocom, bagged the Inclusivity Award during Collab Pitch Day.

Apple struggled with mental health growing up, and because of this, she and her team: Mira Arguelles, Belle Mapa, and Bianca Aguilar started Likha, Liwanag – a newly formed nonprofit organization that aims to raise funds in order to financially support mental health patients from the Philippine Mental Health Association, a corporation they are partnered with.

Likha, Liwanag also aims to elevate awareness into an action step, educating the youth about how and where to get help by taking their organization online; creating a database that allows people to reach mental health professionals online based on their location, and to be able to know how much therapy sessions will cost.

Another goal of this organization is to start a fundraising page with PayPal or Stripe Integration, to gather more funds from different individual parties, and not just from actual events.

Partnered with them in promoting this cause is content marketing and events management company, Ambidextr.

“Many youth in the Philippines struggle with a mental disorder, and unfortunately most of them don’t know where to seek help. Taking Likha, Liwanag into the digital space really boosts the chances of mental health awareness and getting them the help they need. It is indeed a powerful tool for inclusion,” said Kyle Nate, head of partnerships at Ambidextr.

The other winners were Trinitech Alliance and Streets to Schools, who won the Pitch Award and the Innovation Award, respectively.

After Pitch Day, online applications will be released to join these partner organization’s projects before they embark on the 2-month virtual incubator. After prototyping, building, and testing, these groups and more will return for a Demo Day focused on industry leaders by the end of 2019. Learn more at
